The unattainability of divine perfection is represented in the three-quarter inch gap between Michelangelo’s depiction of God’s hand and the hand of a man as illustrated on the Sistine Chapel ceiling. Racism is deeply rooted in historical text and images. Whoever determines “devine” and “perfection” is the one in control of the narrative.
