about

I’m a by-product of Post-Democratic America…it is within this paradigm shift that I struggle to secure intellectual understanding of the social and political environment around me. From this place, I began a late-in-life pursuit of art as a tool for creating dialogue or Visual Discourse.

The hardness of the topics, oppositions of opinions, are softened and made approachable by seeing them in an art form. Disarming, yet approachable. I develop work in the Assemblage genre; juxtaposing ordinary objects over the shape of a flag and utilizing encaustic wax to create and bind concept and object. Message supersedes aesthetic.

After a decade of social-political focus, I have begun a phase of exploration more focused on aesthetic and material experimentation: “new work.” I shift from hot wax to cold wax with an integration of objects and materials. I’m playing, I’m finding what calls me. And I moved to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico just to make sure the change was real.
