Thompson is an accomplished conceptual assemblage artist who, in her Political series, uses found and manufactured objects superimposed on the template of the American flag.  These objects are recognizable symbols whose meanings change when combined in a single form the end result is bold, instructive, and often disconcerting.

Thompson’s conceptual art invites the viewer to actively participate in dialogue with each piece by interpreting the juxtaposition of meticulous details with her overall message. Her work is meant to be thought-provoking and uncomfortable, but her voice is not combative. Rather, she encourages us to reconsider our assumptions and perhaps walk away with a new understanding of our shared reality and a heightened empathy for one another.
